Crossed lines

The exhibition “Crossed Lines” by the Montero Art Gallery, in collaboration with Art Kreuzberg, showed the artistic dialogue between Germany and Latin America in a former car dealership in Berlin-Kreuzberg from September 30th to October 14th, 2023.PANDION AG andTransit spaces e.V. kindly provided the great premises.

The over 400 works of art demonstrated the profound changes and developments in the artistic language of both German and Latin American artists. It was clearly visible how the creatives processed the cultural, geographical and social aspects of their respective living environments in their works. Every canvas, sculpture and installation bore traces of the artist's origins and current location. The exhibition offered an impressive insight into the multifaceted relationships between identity, geography and artistic development.

With “Crossed Lines,” the Montero Art Gallery created a transcontinental dialogue that encouraged visitors to explore the interfaces between different cultures and living environments. It enabled Latin American artists to gain visibility in Germany and enabled German art lovers to get to know these extraordinary artists.

Many visitors viewed the impressive works of art by artists who are still largely unknown in Germany. A group of participants in the curating certificate course at the Berlin Career College of the Berlin University of the Arts received a certificate from the ownerMAG Montero Art Gallery, Jose Montero, an individual tour with insights into principles of excellent curation. The course participantSoyeon Schröder-Kim was so enthusiastic about the works of art that she purchased some of them for herself and her husband. The former Chancellor immediately hung one of them up in his office.
